GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) is the EU privacy law that protects personal data, known as DSGVO in German and RGPD in French and Spanish. Under GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive, websites must obtain explicit consent before storing or accessing non-essential cookies such as analytics and advertising cookies.
The CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act, expanded by CPRA) gives California residents control over their personal data.
